AhlulBayt News Agency: The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, has mourned the death of Palestinian prisoner Muhi al-Din Najm, who passed away on Saturday afternoon in Israeli custody due to punitive measures, including torture and medical neglect.
Najm, 60, had spent 19 years in Israeli prisons, including 17 consecutive years, after being convicted of resisting the occupation and affiliating with the Al-Qassam Brigades. His life was marked by struggle—first as a wounded fighter, then as a prisoner, and ultimately as a martyr.
In a statement released on Sunday, Hamas condemned the Israeli occupation’s treatment of Palestinian detainees, describing it as “Nazi-like crimes” against prisoners and their leadership. The movement warned that such violations would not go unanswered, reaffirming its commitment to securing the freedom of Palestinian prisoners.
Hamas called for urgent intervention to rescue detainees subjected to systematic oppression and torture in Israeli prisons. It also urged Palestinians in the West Bank to continue their activism, support the prisoners, and resist the occupation’s ongoing crimes.
